Celebi ~ the Legendary Pokemon

My 7 year old is obsessed with Pokemon and in particular the little Celebi forest Pokemon. Not being one of the high profile Pokemons, Celebi was rather difficult to find in a stuffy version. (She is rather a stuffy collector). One night while discussing the Pokemon adventures of the day she suggested 'we' knit one. I was a tad reluctant as more often than not, these sorts of things don't turn out the way kids are expecting and finding a pattern could prove disappointing. I researched a plethora of stuffy patterns when I finally stumbled upon the adorable and modifiable Elijah Elephant pattern by Ysolda. Much to my relief, I realized I could simply tilt the elephant head, positioning the trunk for Celebi's 'ponytail' and pick up the ears on the back of the body for the wings.

It was all about the eyes - it really came to life once they went on.
I wrapped it up for my daughter's Xmas gift after constant questioning on how her progress was coming. She freaked out Christmas morning and was so happy when she opened her gift and finally got to meet her Celebi.
She has been attached to her ever since...
Yay! Happy kid, happy mum.

Since Mum is a bit of a pachyderm lover herself Elijah's all queued up!

Stripe Study Shawl pattern by Veera Välimäki

"In linguistics, prosody (pronounced /ˈprɒsədi/ PROSS-ə-dee, from Greek προσῳδία, prosōidía, [prosɔːdía], “song sung to music; pronunciation of syllable”) is the rhythm, stress, and intonation of speech. Prosody may reflect various features of the speaker or the utterance: the emotional state of the speaker; the form of the utterance (statement, question, or command); the presence of irony or sarcasm; emphasis, contrast, and focus; or other elements of language that may not be encoded by grammar or choice of vocabulary."

Baby hock socks

Cast on 25 stitches
knit in ribbing for 1.5 inches
added 2 stitches every 5 rows 4 times knit 1.5 more ribbing cast off loosely in ribbing

Sew seam

repeat for second legging

I chose not to knit in the round as I think having a seam up the back allows the leggings to 'stay up' as opposed to scrunching down.

Used sport weight 100% merino washable yarn

Hempathy Spa Cloth

Made with 100% hemp, this cloth will not 'sour' and resists mildew. Makes a great gift with your favourite handmade soaps.

With it's distinctive 'nubblies' for sloughing and a smoother side for those more gentle spots, this cloth is a wonderful edition to your scouring regime.

This pattern follows the Coral Knot stitch:

Cast on any number of stitches divisible by two.

Row 1 - 4 Knit
Row 5 - K4 (this will be the border), K1, K2 Tog repeat til 4 stitches remain, K4.
Row 6 - K4,K1, M1 (insert needle into thread spreading from stitch just worked and next stitch and create a stitch). Repeat until you have 4 stitches remaining. K4
Row 7 - Knit row
Row 8 - K4,Purl row,K4

Repeat Row 5 - 8 until you have your desired length.

As the width will shrink during blocking, I advise casting on more stitches then you want long. To achieve a more square shape, do not knit the length as long as the width.

Purchase any hemp twine from an arts and craft or beading store. You will use less than 100m depending on the size.
I used a 40 lb weight, with 4mm needles.

Thanks, enjoy!
