Celebi ~ the Legendary Pokemon

My 7 year old is obsessed with Pokemon and in particular the little Celebi forest Pokemon. Not being one of the high profile Pokemons, Celebi was rather difficult to find in a stuffy version. (She is rather a stuffy collector). One night while discussing the Pokemon adventures of the day she suggested 'we' knit one. I was a tad reluctant as more often than not, these sorts of things don't turn out the way kids are expecting and finding a pattern could prove disappointing. I researched a plethora of stuffy patterns when I finally stumbled upon the adorable and modifiable Elijah Elephant pattern by Ysolda. Much to my relief, I realized I could simply tilt the elephant head, positioning the trunk for Celebi's 'ponytail' and pick up the ears on the back of the body for the wings. 

It was all about the eyes - it really came to life once they went on.

I wrapped it up for my daughter's Xmas gift after constant questioning on how her progress was coming. She freaked out Christmas morning and was so happy when she opened her gift and finally got to meet her Celebi.
She has been attached to her ever since...
Yay! Happy kid, happy mum.
